I Make Things

I don't even know if anyone reads my blog anymore, but I guess for my own documentation's sake, I will throw some pictures on of what I've been up to...

I got some ink over the weekend! (just kidding mom, it washes off)

I returned those pink atrocities and got these ones...the real version of them is coming this week!

babysitting is what I do best.

my gangsta friend Daniel

Today we learned about the 2nd Amendment. I had to help my cousin with a project she had to do, so we made a poster and I did the drawings....

Jill is home alone on a Friday night. Suddenly she hears a noise!
It's a burglar!

Jill is very scared until she remembers she has the right to bear arms!
The burglar sees her and runs away

He is never to be seen again. The end.

and to celebrate the poster being done, I made a cake. Yeah, I'm a regular chef! (frosted to perfection by my wonderful aunt)

Fingers for your Toes

I bought my very first pair of toe shoes today. What do you think? (you are allowed to think I look ridiculous. I do)

A Picture is Worth...You know.

On a scale from one to productive, I have done nothing today. This isn't me saying that I only did a couple errands and did very little, I literally did nothing. I guess a blog post was inevitable. So I will now dive into my favorite way to blog...through pictures.

being as it has been a high of 78 this whole week, I have been working on my tanning. Sometimes you can use reinforcement labels to see if your tan is getting darker. And sometimes you can think thats weird. I dont care.  (weirdest picture angle of my life...that would be my arm and my leg if you were thinking I had a deformity or something...)

Nail painting in the sunshine. Life is rough. As you can see I lead a very busy life.

Ahhhh! We're so excited for the Hunger Games around here! We hung the movie posters and are ready to roll come spring break time in a couple weeks (who wants to deal with crowds in the DC area? not me)

Last weekend my cousin had a basketball party and I decided to make her basketball themed cake balls

putting the lollipop sticks on them to turn them into "cake pops"

and the final product. Not exactly 'basketbally' but they were hard work. All 20 of them were devoured in about 5 seconds so I take it they were a hit.

I babysat 2 of my younger cousins and took them to their fun fair! Oh boy was that fun. The 5 year old won me this bracelet so I proudly sported it the rest of the day.

Oh hey Idaho. Miss ya

Cute car in the parking lot

Jessica's mission report was this week and I was really sad to miss it...but we got creative and through a little less than church-worthy ways, we got to watch (hear) her give it through facetime.

So that's basically the rundown. In 2 weeks I start training for my lifeguarding job, so I just need to keep busy until then! Basically I dont think I should have a problem seeing as our backyard pool opens next week!! and let's also not forget my best friend is coming to see me Saturday for the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC!! Can't wait.

No News is Bad News

Sometimes I wonder where the line between a boring run down of my day and an interesting blog post is. I hope this falls somewhere in between those two. Most of my job applications (if you can call an email or a phone call that) have fallen through or the position has been filled already. I thought that maybe I am not supposed to be a full time babysitter because no one is hiring me! So I moved on from that. Today I focused on calling all the local pools around here and already scored an interview early next week. Yes, I realize that a lifeguard isn't a real job, and any person could do it really, but I like to think of myself as a seasoned professional. Of course lifeguards aren't like any other normal interviews where you sit at a desk and talk about yourself, but instead I have to swim a bunch and do some drills in the pool. Exciting, yet nerve wracking. I haven't swam for real since my junior year in high school. Hopefully it is still in me. Apparently these richies pay a lot for their spoiled kids to learn how to swim, so if I get the swim teacher job as well, I will be set for life. Oh yeah, and I painted my nails today and they look amazing. That's all.

Re-do

Let's stop, pause, rewind, and go back for 1 second. I forgot a had some pictures of me leaving Tennessee, and also when I visited my best friend like 2 weeks ago. So lets go back in time for a second and relive that.

how many of you have your very own picture wall in your best friends house?

ok yeah it was 4 pictures. I'm not the best documenter in the world. Deal.

Run Down

Wow...who even remembers who I am anymore? I just got done with the most stressful week of my life and figured a quick update was due. Ok, I really haven't been that busy, really I just like to be dramatic. I finally got myself a job (pretty good seeing as it only took me 4 days) but unfortunately it only lasted for a week. I was a nanny for this little family with 3 boys. I thought 'oh cool a baby to play with in the day and 2 boys after school. not bad'...little did I know I was stepping into my very own episode of Hoarders. This house was unlike any other house I have ever seen in my life. When the dad toured me through to show me around, we were literally stepping on clothes as we walked down the halls. I won't go into detail (because that could take me the rest of my life) but just as a little visual, downstairs there was over 100 loads of laundry to be done, sitting in front of the 2 washers. In the 4 days that I was there, I accomplished 24 loads. That's like more laundry than I have ever done in my whole entire life (thanks mom and dad for sparing me that punishment)  :) anyway, it was hard. And I am kind of glad to be done with them and excited to hopefully start with a new family. I have my unofficial interview tomorrow before church, so we'll see how that goes. Yeah, I'm cool enough to nanny for people that actually go to my church. What of it. Also, I'm addicted to Parenthood the tv show. I have a unhealthy obsession with each of those guys. And we just finished watching the new Footloose in the theater room at my house (that is a whole other thing to go ahead and be jealous of), so I'm in a pretty good place right now.

one corner of the laundry room. This was after I had emptied the 3 large tupperware full of clothes and washed them. (You can't really see the depth, but that pile was almost as tall as me, and for sure longer than me.)

Someone's in the Kitchen

Tonight Olivia and I decided to show the world our talents at baking. We started out with simple rice crispy treats, but little did we know you need like brand new marshmallows for that task to work. We had kind of old, hard ones, but we thought that melting them would equal that part not mattering. Well, we were wrong. It was kind of like gloop, and when mixed with the cereal, created sort of a mat. Like a place mat..at the table. They were weird. We then decided that cookies would be more practical and probably turn out better. I grabbed the boxed cookie mix from the cupboard (cause that's how I roll) and we got to work. 20 minutes later and a huge mess on the counter, we had ourselves some triple chocolate chunk chocolate chip cookies rolled in powdered sugar. Healthy, right? So yummy!!

we ended up just throwing the cereal on top in the end because it wouldn't stick no matter what we tried.

the most pathetic crispy treats I've ever made. Poor guys.

delicious. and so chocolaty it was almost too much of a good thing

we got a little crazy with the ingredients after we were done.
