Angels Landing

Today we went to Zion's National Park for the day. It was SO much fun and we hiked about a million miles. Well, not that many but it sure felt like that. I now have a socks and shoes tan line which I'm pretty proud of.

So...heres the story...none of us were actually good at documenting this trip, but these pictures are actually what we did, courtesy of Google Images.

See that little tree up at the top? Picture a human. That is where we climbed up to. So so so so so high and SO much fun!

The trail got a bit sketchy at times, and these helpful little chains saved the day.

Yes we climbed up this, yes it was a killer, and yes, many, many breaks were taken.
I actually did take these from the top of the mountain. To prove it, there is my shoe in the picture :)

The view from the top. I wish it showed how high up we were.

Added Pressure

Now that I know people actually get on here and read what I write, I feel all this pressure to make it a good experience for all involved. I have recently been introduced to the YouTube video Marcel The Shell, and in honor of him (or her, still not really sure...), I've been researching turtles (they are kind of related, right?)  and I have found my future pet.

How tender are these little guys?

I researched these guys and I found out they are not as simple to take care of as one might think. The website warned me that they are easily stressed out, and you must not place them in high pressure situations. Who knew? Also, they require about a gallon of water per inch of them, which turns out isn't that much. It also included a warning which cautioned against dropping them, which would result in their immediate death. I am willing to take the risk. I am ordering one as soon as possible.

It's A New Day

Yesterday I got some news that my GPS had been stolen out of my mom's car in Idaho. It wouldn't be that bad, except I paid for it all by myself and it was one of the things that I really liked having. I am directionally challenged, and I get lost more than one would think. This news was piled on top of some other news from my day that I was already upset about, so I kind of just melted down. Today I woke up and realized something....  Today is a good day.
Someone smiled because I smiled at them.
    My parents love me unconditionally.
Tomorrow can always be a better day.
It's Thursday- which means 5 more days until I can go home.
One of my Professor's told me my smile was his favorite thing- and to never ever stop showing it.
It is a lot easier to be happy than it is to think of reasons to be sad.
I can be whoever I want to be right now, no matter what my situation looks like.

Guaranteed Happiness

If there is one thing that can make a me happy,  its bubbles and chocolate. My cute aunt dropped a surprise Easter basket off for me today and it has probably made my week. Not to mention that the bubbles are the mega big kind! I can't wait for it to stop snowing so I can go outside and play with them!

Yes, this is also a post so I can complain about the weather. Where are the May flowers that were promised?  I understand we still have 4 more days until May, but I was under the impression I lived in Southern Utah, not Southern Antarctica.

Campfires and Shampoo

I was recently talking to my 7 year old brother and I was telling him about a camping trip I just went on.
Me: Man, I washed my hair at least 3 times and I still smell like a campfire!
Eli: What, did you use campfire shampoo or somethin'?

He then proceeds to hand the phone to my mom while laughing at his own little joke. What a punk.

ChapStick

Today I finished my ChapStick without losing it, washing it accidentally in my jeans pocket, or having my little brother eat it. I consider today a success.

Camping Extraordinaire

I have probably been camping a total of 4 times in my whole life. This weekend I went with my aunt's family and some of their friends on an Easter camp out. Despite the fact that I now smell like a campfire, it was a pretty successful week. I would post pictures of what I looked like, but I figure that would just be mean to make the world look at that. It has come to my attention that I am not a camper. My parent's never took us on week long camp outs, and now I know why. It's cold, wet, and I probably will smell like a fire for the rest of my life. But if done the right way, such as camping in the middle of town with electricity, a hot tub, and little cabins for warmth, it's not so bad.
Here is what our campsite looked like this morning. Ok, not really, but that really did almost happen. It rained ALL night and it was so cold! I feel like I need to sleep for a week to make up for all the sleeping that did not happen last night.

Moving on with the recap of this week. We pretty much roasted anything that fits on the end of a stick. Marshmallows, starbursts, oranges  (idea: 5 year old cousin   end result: not so great) etc. I roasted a marsh that I didn't even know existed that large. After the half hour it took to cook, I could not even finish it. But it was toasted to perfection!

I have just now taken my hair out of their tiny camping braids. I would shower, but I am not ready to part with this style.

On a completely unrelated note... someone was selling puppies at WalMart the other day. I have never wanted something more in my whole life than I did at that moment. They were tender!! But 11 more days and I get to go home, so that's happy too I guess.

Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures

Living in the dorms has left us to get pretty creative in the meals we eat when we get hungry. Since the caf closes around 6, we find ourselves searching around for something to eat that is not cereal. Tonights meal consisted of toaster strudels and instant pudding. Yum, right?

On a completely unrelated note, today I skyped Lindy for about an hour. The cool thing about it was that she lives down the hall from me. Literally 2 doors down. Thats how we college kids roll.

Mom Knows Best

I hate cleaning. I hate messes. I hate trash. I got back from my nice little weekend at my aunt's and decided to go on a cleaning rampage! I only wish my mom was here... She'd be so proud.
you don't even want to know how long it took me to gather all that trash...

Add caption
pants in the shower...thats how we roll

I don't even... yeah.

After.....
Counter. I figured I'd label to clear any confusion...
We have a floor??? Who knew!?

Sigh... much better...

So, as you can probably tell, I can't quite figure out how to work these pictures. They sure don't go where I want them to. But you get the idea.

Basically, its good when I have homework because all of this cleaning gets done instead.

College Cuteness

This is how we take care of the boredom in our lives. We are drawn to cute things.

I learned 2 things today.

Number 1: The 13 year olds advertised on the friendship bracelet box falsely advertise how hard it actually is to make one of those! I think they have their parents help them....

Number 2: If this last 20 days of school doesnt kill me, nothing will. I have never before been accosted with so many presentations, projects, and proposals all due at the same time.

Couples

Today I read something along the lines of  "4,153,237 people got married last year." I mean, I don't want to start any trouble or anything, but shouldn't that be an even number? Well I was really wondering about this so I turned to Google. It informed me that a couple years ago some lady married the Eiffel Tower... well, that clears that up.

Springtime Love

Recently me and Lindy were at WalMart and we found the CUTEST little baby decorations or something. We also were super excited to find Easter baskets that we put on our wish lists.

We almost bought all of them because they were SO cute. But they were .97 cents each... not free.99 like we wanted

Also, a cookie decorating contest was held. Of course I won with my grass.... Ok not really but it was tons of fun!!
the most creative I've ever been in my life...

April wind storms bring May....flowers?

Ok, so what exactly is up with the weather? According to my calendar, spring was to begin March 20. It is now the middle of April and I still have to walk to class with a coat on! I am not ok with this year long winter we seem to be having.
On a happier note, there are only 22 days left of this semester! And yes, I'm aware that some of you are finishing this week or already done. Don't talk to me about that. I decided our professors are as bored with the end of this semester as we are. We are literally doing a project on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in one of my classes. Desperate much? We have to test people on their ability to make one according to instructions we made. Yes, I am aware this is complete busy work but hey- I happen to like a good pb&j every now and again.

Jumpin' On That Blog Bandwagon

So, first of all, I feel as if I need to explain my blog. When I was little my grandpa gave me the nickname Emaloochie. I never knew why, but I just went with it. He made up a song and it went something like this "Emaloochie, feragoochie, gimme a smoochie poochie loochie." As I grew older, my sisters would constantly tease me with this song and they would basically taunt me till I cried. I've decided to embrace it.
Well, moving on from that. I have decided that I would jump on that bandwagon and make a blog! I can't promise I have anything too exciting to say, but lets just see what I can do here.
My first story involves high fives and high school. We all did it, walking down the hall seeing our friends and immediately going up for the famous high five greeting. Drove me crazy and still drives me crazy to this day. There is nothing I hate more than saying goodbye to someone and having them lift their hand up for a goodbye high five. I would rather part with an awkward smile or a shy last word, maybe even a hug, but high fives kill me. They have since high school.
